Raoul Savoy talks to media about Kenya

Coach Raoul joined GNSA in 2008 and ever since he has grown to be one of our agency’s top coaches. In this interview he had with Kenya’s leading Newspaper, DAILY NATION  he explain’s why he would love to coach the Kenya National team one day and his love for the Kenyan people. Enjoy this exclusive interview from our achieves:

“Kenya is a warm country and with a lot of sporting culture. The Kenyan athletes are kings when it comes to middle and long distance running and I would love Kenyan soccer to climb to the summit of African football in not too distance future if given the opportunity,” Savoy stated in an interview with Daily Nation Sports.

“I can bring some enthusiasm and a vision of the modern football very close to the mentality of the current average Kenyan footballer. Survival, bravery, resilience, hardwork ,winning mentality, purposeful football that will lead them to play positively on the pitch. This has to start from the grassroot and that am ready to do because I am a very good advocate of grassroot football,” added the coach who has worked in Cameroon and Morocco as club coach and national team coach of Ethiopia and Swaziland.

Savoy says he has been following Kenyan football over the past ten years and his experience in African football offers him a great niche to work in Kenya which has been having problems in the management of football.

“I know Kenyan football has been going through a lot but I am happy the government has stepped in to bring sanity. What is happening in Kenya is not a special case, it is something that is happening in several countries in Africa and having experienced that, I am ready to work through hardships to help Kenyan soccer grow.”

I know some notable Kenyan national team players in Europe among them Amos Ekhalie - IFK Mariehamn (Finland),Robert Mambo Mumba - GIF Sundsvall (Sweden), Dennis Oliech - AJ Auxerre (France), Willis Ochieng - IFK Mariehamn (Finland) and of course MacDodald Mariga of Inter Milan in Italy. The Kenyan league is also growing in stature and to me I see lots of undeveloped talent in Kenya.”

Born on May 18, 1973 in Ste-Croix Switzerland, Savoy holds a UEFA coaching licence and is also a qualified youth instructor. He played for Yverdon Sports Academy before moving graduating to play for Serrières Neuchâtel in the Swiss Premier League.

His coaching career started in 1999 with FCBT 99 in the Swiss League 3 before he came to Africa to coach Tonnere Younde of Cameroon and later CODM Meknes of Morocco. He coach the Ethiopia national team in 2007 and Swaziland in 2008.
